A small school with a big heart

Little Bloom began in 2014 with one classroom and twelve children. Today we welcome over 150 families from across Palayamkottai and Tirunelveli, and we still greet every child by name at the gate.

We blend Montessori materials, play-way learning and the songs, stories and festivals of Tamil Nadu, so children grow curious, kind and confident.

  • Learning through play, stories and real things, not worksheets
  • Small classes so every child is known by name
  • Ready for Class 1 at any CBSE, ICSE or State Board school
“Children learn best when they feel safe and loved. Everything else grows from there.”
Mrs. Shanthi Rajkumar, Founder and Director, M.Ed., AMI Montessori trained

How children learn here

Six kinds of play, every week. Children learn by doing, touching, asking and making, with teachers guiding gently from beside them.

  • A teacher reads a picture book to children sitting on bean bags

    Stories and talking

Daily read-alouds, rhymes in English and Tamil, and show-and-tell build big vocabularies.

  • Children building a tower of wooden blocks around a round table

    Numbers through play

Blocks, beads and shop-keeping games turn counting and patterns into fun.

  • Children planting seedlings in pots in the school garden

    Nature and the garden

Every child grows a plant, waters it and watches it change through the term.

  • Children working with Montessori materials, one carefully pouring water

    Hands that do

Montessori trays for pouring, buttoning and sorting build focus and independence.

  • Children with paint-covered hands laughing in the creative corner

    Art and messy play

Paint, clay and collage every week, because messy hands make confident minds.

  • Children dancing with colourful ribbons while their teacher watches

    Music and movement

Dance, drums and ribbon play strengthen bodies and help shy children shine.

A morning at Little Bloom

Young children feel safe when the day has a rhythm. Here is a typical Nursery and LKG morning.

  1. Hello and free play

Teachers greet every child by name at the gate. Puzzles and blocks while friends arrive.

  2. Circle time

Prayer, the day’s weather, a song and a chat about what we will do today.

  3. Learning time

Phonics, numbers or a theme activity in small groups at the learning tables.

  4. Snack and wash up

Children open their own tiffin boxes and learn to wash hands and tidy up.

  5. Outdoor play

Slides, sandpit, tricycles and the garden. Rain days move to the activity hall.

  6. Art, music or story

A different creative session every day of the week.

  7. Goodbye song

Bags packed, a quick note in the diary, and home to a happy family.

Questions parents ask

What age should my child be to join?

Age is counted as on 1 June of the school year: 1.5 years for Playgroup, 2.5 for Nursery, 3.5 for LKG and 4.5 for UKG. See the full table on our admissions page.

Do you have an entrance test?

No. Children simply spend 20 minutes playing with a teacher so we can get to know them. There is nothing to prepare.

How do you help children who cry when they start?

Parents can stay for the first two days, and we start with shorter hours in the first week. Teachers send you photos so you know your child has settled.

Is Tamil taught?

Yes. English is our main language of teaching, and Tamil letters, rhymes and stories are introduced from LKG so children are ready for school.

Do you provide food?

Preschool children bring a small snack from home. Daycare children get a freshly cooked vegetarian lunch and evening snack from our kitchen.

Is transport available?

Yes. Our GPS-tracked van covers Palayamkottai, KTC Nagar, Perumalpuram and Vannarpettai, with a lady attendant on every trip.

What are the fees?

Fees depend on the program and on whether you need transport or daycare. We share the full fee card during your school visit, with no hidden charges.

Does my child need to be toilet trained?

Not for Playgroup or Nursery. Our helpers support toilet training gently, working together with you at home.
